Campground Policies and Rules 2024

Campground Policies and Rules
Some common campground rules are safety-oriented, such as keeping pets on a leash, never leaving fires unattended, and safe, slow, sober driving.
Other rules exist due to the proximity of trailers to each other.  Simply put, what you do at your site may affect your neighbors, thus quiet hours, courteous parking in your parking area only, civility, and maintaining a neat site free of clutter and discarded items.
Did you know?
  • We review our rules before each season. Society and our business are subject to change, those changes can require our rules to change too. During the review process management determines if existing rules need to be amended or eliminated and new rules introduced. For example, private sales of trailers were permitted, but given the significant problems that resulted, we had to disallow private sales.
  • We communicate rules.  The FLB Seasonal Handbook (updated every year) contains the majority of seasonal policies and rules.  Matters that benefit from frequent reminders of our rules are helped by the use of handouts at the gate as campers enter and posters on bulletin boards at the gate, at the store, at the pavilion, and even at bathhouses during the open season. FLB uses weekly and monthly newsletters to keep our seasonals ‘in the know’ during the camping season and all year round.  Finally, we use CampersApp for alerts and notifications and larger, informative topics are located on the FLB website, under the NEWS tab. The NEWS information may interest to both seasonal and transient campers. Our goal is for everyone to know the rules, not just those directly affected. If the rule is a significant change we send an email before it is published in the updated seasonal handbook including information on why the new rule was created and why it needs to be enforced.
  • Overnight camping rules are reviewed before each season. When overnight, rental, and monthly campers make reservations the rules must be acknowledged and accepted in writing.  When campers check in they sign and receive a copy of the campground rules.
  • We enforce rules. Rules are useless if not enforced. In some cases, enforcement requires confirmation of the violation, a fine, or a warning. That said, our staff can’t cover the entire campground so we rely on video cameras throughout the park and help from the FLB community. If that sounds like ‘tattling on your neighbor’, keep in mind that many phone calls and emails from campers have helped avoid bigger problems, personal injury, or property damage. Each section is a community and the campground as a whole is the FLB community-we need to look out for each other.

While campers may disagree with some of our rules we ask for your compliance and respect for our staff, whom we trust to apply those rules. If any policy or rule is unclear, ask FLB staff, not other campers. Rules have changed over the years and if the person you ask has not kept up with changes, you MAY get the wrong answer.

As campground owners for over 85 years, we’ve learned through trial, error, and experience. We also stay current with the campground and outdoor hospitality industries and know that our policies and rules are consistent with best practices.
