Six Flags Great America is approximately a 30-minute drive, just north of Fish Lake Beach. Our campers have shared how much they love the combination of our homey campground with the thrill rides and attractions of Six Flags. We are Preferred Lodging Partners with Six Flags Great America.
Check-In for Overnight Camping, Rentals and Monthly camping is 4pm.
Overnight campsites, monthly campsites and rentals feature FREE WiFi service.
Seasonal campers may buy Comcast services for their seasonal site, including high-speed internet, TV programming and security.
For Your Safety: A rescue ring with rope is at the lake near the rules sign. All watercraft users must wear life jackets. Your safety and your family’s safety is your responsibility: swim at your own risk and boat at your own risk at our lake and pool. Please familiarize yourself with the Pool, Lake and Beach information below before you arrive.

• Fish Lake Beach campers and their guests may use the heated pool, kiddie pool, hot tub, and lake at no charge. The hot tub is for campers who are 17 years and older.

• Pool and hot tub close September 7, 2025.

• Fish Lake and Beach are open to the PUBLIC on WEEKDAYS, May 27, 2025-September 19, 2025 with paid admission or a Beach Pass.
• Fish Lake and Beach are open for CAMPERS 7 DAYS A WEEK, May 23, 2025-October 5, 2025.
• Fish Lake is monitored by the Lake County Health Department

Yes. Fishing licenses are required by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) for individuals 16 years old and over. We DO NOT sell fishing licenses. Shore fishing is permitted from 6 am-11 pm Monday-Friday. Fishing from a rowboat is permitted until 6 pm.
We have 8 park model rentals to use for 2 days or up to 2 weeks. Each rental is equipped with TV, wifi, kitchen, sofa, chairs, deck, grill, central A/C, picnic table, parking for two vehicles, grill, and more! 7 of the park model rentals may not have a dog or cat. Z5 is dog-friendly. We also have an ADA-equipped park model rental. A $300 cleaning and damage deposit is charged on a credit or debit card at check-in. The deposit protects Fish Lake Beach if you incur damage to the rental during your stay. Charges will be applied for any damage to the rental unit, space, and/or non-compliance with pet and smoking policies. You must be 25+ to book and stay at a rental.
We do not rent tents or other recreational vehicles. Look to Cruise America for RV rentals.
Reserved sites cannot be sublet to others. If a reservation is booked and found to be sublet to a party other than the reserved the reservation will be cancelled without refund and the occupants ejected.
Campers may bring their non-motorized boat and launch for free. There must be adequate parking. Please ask when making your reservation.
The public must pay the daily admission and may rent rowboats, stand-up paddle boards, paddle boats, and single or tandem kayaks.
Yes! To avoid disappointment we encourage reservations. (Weekday ‘walk in’s have a greater chance for availability than weekends.)
Yes! Fish Lake Beach concessions is across from the beach. The hours vary during the season. Please call 847-546-2228 before you go.
The menu includes pretzel bites, pizza, chicken nuggets, slushees, soft-serve ice cream, chips, candy, soft drinks, and adult beverages.
Campers and their guests must abide by Fish Lake Beach overnight camping rules; many are posted around the resort and on this website, however, we require all campers to sign a copy of the overnight camping rules as part of the registration. Our rules cover common sense guidelines, like quiet hours and safe driving in the campground for peace and safety. With nearly 80 years running Fish Lake Beach, we’ve learned what helps create an enjoyable experience.
Another important policy that we respectfully request of our campers is to abide by our Zero Tolerance Policy. Our staff has a right to perform their jobs in an environment without the threat of violence, profanity, insults, harassment, or aggressive gestures. These types of behaviors by customers towards our staff are not acceptable. Evidence of any occurrences on the phone, via email or in person will not be tolerated and may result in eviction without refund and/or prosecution. If you have any questions call (847) 546-2228.
Propane is available for purchase near Fish Lake Beach at Thorntons, Menards, and Woodmans.
Jewel grocery store and Aldi grocery store are located approximately 3 miles north on Route 12. Woodman’s is located on the southwest corner of Route 120 and Route 12.
Instacart is an online service that offers delivery and pick-up grocery services from nearby stores, Jewel and Aldi. They also have a smartphone app.
Recycling receptacles for bottles and cans are throughout the resort, beach, and common areas.
Yes! Campfires are permitted in the fire pit or fire ring on each campsite. Fires must be kept under 2 ft high. Firewood may be purchased at concessions, across from the beach. Campers may bring firewood however, we sell premium firewood bundles for $8 each plus tax.
Alcohol is permitted. Glass bottles are prohibited at the pool and beach. Adult beverages are sold in Concessions.
No. Individuals under 21 years old may not camp without parents on the property at all times. Individuals who wish to use a rental must be over 25 years old.
Our campground has thousands of mature trees that provide a pleasing combination of shade and sun. Therefore we cannot guarantee satellite reception as part of the camping experience. We offer free wifi in the monthly, rental, and overnight section that is password protected.
No. It may appear that park models are permanent homes, but they are not. Seasonal campers, a.k.a. licensees, utilize park models on their seasonal site year after year as their summer home, however, they do not live at Fish Lake Beach after our seasonal permit and license agreement ends for seasonal campers, October 15th. Other seasonal campers utilize their own motor home, RV or travel trailer on one of our seasonal sites, to suit their needs. Winter storage is included with the seasonal fees for RV campers. Regardless of which is used, a park model or an RV, each seasonal site has water, electric, and sewer connections, and may not be used year-round.
Yes! The public is welcome to use Fish Lake and Beach on WEEKDAYS. The admission and hours can be found on the beach page of this website.
Overnight, Monthly, and Rental campers MAY NOT BRING A GOLF CART.
Seasonal Campers MAY obtain a Golf Cart Permit every season IF the individual who owns and drives the Golf Cart also has a current, permanent state-issued Disability Placard or Disability Plate. There is a Golf Cart Permit fee that must be paid each season and Rules that must be agreed to in writing before a permit will be issued and usage allowed.
Yes! The dump station is for use by Fish Lake Beach overnight campers only. There is no charge to use it during your reservations.
