Summers Heating Up!

Help Avoid Power Outages When Temps Soar

June 18, 2024

As the temperatures soar, air conditioning becomes our coolest friend. Fish Lake Beach weekends are so popular that we are on a sold out status for overnight, rental and monthly camping. Our 500 plus seasonal camping families use their Fish Lake ‘summer home’ on the weekends in great numbers.

For those reasons we need to share some tips on how ALL campers can Help Avoid Power Outages When Temps Soar.

When electricity consumption during heat waves becomes excessive due to higher temps, all ComEd customers in the area, including Fish Lake Beach, receive less power. This increases the chance of power outages.

-Reduce your overall electric consumption. Shut off everything possible.

-Use only 1 air conditioner. Our grid will not support using multiple air conditioners in one trailer during a heat wave.

-Surge protectors will shut down your trailer if insufficient power is available or the voltage changes when other trailers’ air conditioning is turned on.

– Clean and service your air conditioner.

-Numerous reasons can cause one of our fuses to blow, however, the solution is always the same: we replace the fuse and ask campers in the affected section(s) to reduce their electric consumption. If they do not, outages will continue to happen. We appreciate your cooperation.

-Please install CampersApp and set notifications for ON. If an outage of any kind occurs we us CampersApp to inform campers of the status.

Thank You
